MINISTRY PARTNERS

FLINT WATER RELIEF

Fresh Food for Flint Families!

St. Paul’s is working in partnership with the Episcopal Diocese of Eastern Michigan, Episcopal Relief and Development, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and Soup Kitchen, and Crossover Downtown Outreach Ministry to provide access to healthy, fresh foods rich in iron, calcium, and vitamin C to help combat the effects of lead poisoning.

We will be using these foods to feed God’s children in our Tuesday lunch, St. Andrew’s soup kitchen, and introducing it into the recipes used during Crossover’s skills-building cooking classes.

THE ORDER OF ST. LUKE

The International Order of St. Luke the Physician (OSL) is an ecumenical organization dedicated to the Christian healing ministry. We are clergy, health professionals and lay people who believe healing is an essential part of the teaching and practice of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Flint chapter of the Order of St. Luke works to restore the light of Christ to those in need of healing through prayer.

Our motto is “O Jesus, be to me my Savior (Healer), my Leader, my Light, and King.”

Healing is more than mending broken bones, rather a willingness by each individual to be changed outwardly and inwardly.

EVERY TUESDAY LUNCH

As part of fulfilling our mission to serve the community and meet the needs of our neighbors, St. Paul’s offers a weekly Tuesday Lunch soup kitchen gathering. During normal times, everyone is invited for a hot meal and fellowship, with the option to participate in a devotional service.

During the pandemic, our lunch service was modified to include a nutritious sandwich, piece of fruit, and a beverage.

PLEASE NOTE:  THE TUESDAY LUNCH MINISTRY HAS BEEN PLACED ON HOLD.  WE WILL RETURN, WITH A RENEWED COMMITMENT TO MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR NEIGHBORS.  THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR PATIENCE AS WE USE THIS MONTH TO RE-IMAGINE OUR MINISTRY.

CROSSOVER OUTREACH THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE

The Thanksgiving food drive at St. Paul’s was a huge success. Boxes of food donations for Thanksgiving meals were delivered by parishioners to our partner, Crossover Outreach, a nonprofit in Flint. Crossover plans on receiving enough donations to prepare 120 Thanksgiving boxes for Flint families for a holiday meal.

Here are pictures posted on Crossover’s Facebook page of the volunteers making the delivery. Volunteers from St. Paul’s Outreach included Karen Schaefer, Lanie Nix, Mike Farver, Ted Mannor, Barbara Mannor and David Taylor.
